Your journey begins as you are picked up at your hotel and transferred to Wat Saphan Floating Market pier, nestled along the historic Bangkok Noi Canal. Here, we meet at the site of a vibrant weekend market within the grounds of the ancient Saphan Temple, a site dating back to the Ayutthaya period. As you enjoy the lively atmosphere, you’ll discover a wide array of vendors offering fresh vegetables, tropical fruits, and local delicacies straight from the surrounding gardens. Please note: The market operates on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. If embarking on this tour during weekdays, there will be no market to take in, but you can explore the temple grounds before we head off. This is where our adventure begins.
Once we’re ready, we’ll launch our kayaks and paddle through a picturesque 3.5 km stretch of narrow canals, winding past lush orchid farms and coconut groves. The peaceful rhythm of the water will lead us into the heart of this serene landscape, far removed from the city’s hustle and bustle.
Midway, we pause at the charming Koh Temple, where you can take part in feeding giant catfish. This temple is the only one in Thailand where monks make bread specifically to feed these majestic fish, adding a special touch of tradition to our journey.
As we continue, the waterway reveals a tapestry of rural life, with the orchards and farms standing as testaments to Bangkok’s agricultural heritage. Our paddle continues to a quaint riverside cafe, if you’re lucky here you may learn about some of the fantastic philanthropic ventures of the cafe’s owner who contributes to sustainable community development programs with some Northern Thai communities. Our stop here offers a moment to reflect on the simplicity and beauty of this timeless community before you head back to your hotel, enriched by the experience.
