Our local expert guide picks guests up around 9:00 from their hotels on the island. From there, the guide will be the knowledgeable island-dweller uncovering all the intricacies of island life in the Andaman Sea for visitors.
We’ll start with a scenic drive through the countryside past the staple plantations of the island – rubber trees, coconut trees, and palm trees line the route.
We’ll visit Leam Larn Fishing village, a mesmerisingly charming little community centred around the daily catch. It’s a truly beautiful setting to enjoy and observe the identity of Koh Yao Yai as the guide explains the daily routine of the fishermen and their families.
Engage in numerous activities in the village, including basket-weaving in the local style and – a particular highlight – making the island’s famous delightfully light coconut pancakes. You’ll also learn the correct way to open and drink from the coconuts like a local.
We’ll round off the community activity by visiting a goat farm where you’ll get to feed the village’s goats.
Leave the village along a jungle path that opens up onto the glorious, tranquil Ao Sai Beach. Admire the dazzling views of Phi Phi in the distance with soft sand underfoot as guests take time to relax, take a dip, and soak up the sun. While on the beach, learn to make a quid trap from the local fishermen to complete your induction into local ways.
Round off the trip by revisiting the village for a delicious late lunch complete with plenty of Thai treats.
