Depart the hotel at 5 pm to explore two very different, but equally exciting, sides of Bangkok. After zigzagging through the traffic and zooming past the bright city lights, cosy up for a sunset cocktail at the HI-SO Bar, a sophisticated, yet undeniably photogenic 29th-floor terrace overlooking Lumpini Park. The park’s green canopy sits in stark contrast to the steel and concrete sea of the horizon to create the city’s best sunset spot.
Afterwards, take a short, easy stroll to Somtum Der or a similar eatery for some cosy, homespun Isaan food, a region in northeast Thailand known for its spicy and savoury salads. A specially prepared tasting and drinks menu is offered. Next, wander into the streets of Silom. At night, the streets and sois (alleys) transform into a mix-used market, offering everything from souvenirs and t-shirts to tantalising snacks and eclectic bars and restaurants.
The evening ends atop Vertigo, one of Bangkok’s oldest and best sky bars. The terraced restaurant and bar sits atop the Banyan Tree Hotel, 61 floors above the street. It is a perfect spot to enjoy the rest of the evening sipping cocktails and gazing at the glittering cityscape below. Around 10 pm the trip will end, but you have the option to hang around. Should you choose to stay later, your guide can give you advice and directions on how to return to the hotel.
