Before we begin exploring the backstreets and ancient communities of Bangkok, our guide will meet you at your hotel lobby to transfer you to our departure point. Once here, we’ll do a quick bike fitting and pre-trip briefing ready to set off on a fun filled urban adventure, cycling along the winding alleys and street-side local market stalls.
We’ll begin our ride with a leisurely stretch of hidden backstreets as we navigate an old area of the city, popular with backpackers. Continuing to the architectural wonder of the Rama 8 bridge, from which a stunning panoramic view can be enjoyed of the majestic Chao Phraya river, or as known in English – the River of Kings.
As we cross into an area known as Thonburi, our adventure continues as we pay a visit to an abandoned temple dating back to the eighteenth century. We will then wind our way through some of the oldest communities of the city followed by a short visit to an equally old temple but which is still in use and serves as a school for monks. This temple is adorned with historical murals in the main ordination hall that expose fascinating stories and mythologies.
Enjoy being transported through time to a bygone era as we unveil old riverside communities and home-based cottage industries that still practice the traditional methods of manufacturing their goods using basic rudimentary tools.
Our tour continues with a diversion through the famous Siriraj hospital from where we will catch the ferry back to modern day Bangkok. From here, it’s a relaxing scenic ride along the river with a short stop in a quaint park before heading on back to where we started.
