Itinerary

Depart the hotel at 09:30 for a short drive to Hang Tueng, an organic farm located on the outskirts of Chiang Mai. On arrival a set of traditional clothes will be provided, which make for some great photos, for a morning as a Thai farmer.

Once ready, the day begins learning first-hand about growing rice, a major staple of the Thai diet and the country’s second largest export. Depending on the time of year, different activities may be available such as planting or harvesting.

Next up, visit, feed and learn the importance of the farm’s resident rabbits and buffalos. The Asiatic Buffalo, or water buffalo, serve an important role on local farms as they are used to power ploughs – they are often called the ‘living tractors of the East.” The docile, domesticated buffalo can be seen throughout the country whether working the fields or cooling off in the irrigation canals and ponds.  Afterwards, if you wish, you may pay an optional surcharge on the spot to take part in some arts and crafts and try your hand at traditional umbrella painting, which can be kept as a souvenir.

Lastly, visit the organic farm where they grow a variety of vegetables that are used in the onsite restaurant where you’ll be served lunch.

Say farewell to the farm, and return to the hotel around 12:30.
